I've been having a problem exporting .STL file for use in vericut with NX10. Keep getting ERROR CREATING FACET BODY. Usually I bring it into vericut and only some of the geometry is there. The same part in NX9 exports the .STL to Vericut No Problem. Anyone else having this problem?

Hi Cowski,

Yes same settings in each. I have tried different tolerance settings but to no avail. basically in NX9 the default .003 tol. is usually OK but in NX10 I have gone all the way to .100 tol. and still get the error. I do not get the error in NX9. The error appears at the very end of the output.

Did you save the part in NX10 before exporting the .stl in NX10 ?
Not simply bringing it up in NX10 (last saved in NX9) and doing the export.

Hi Jerry,

Yes the part was saved in NX10 prior to exporting the .STL file. Also tried exporting a parasolid and bringing it in to a new NX10 part and then tried exporting .STL and still getting the same error.

Do you get the same error on every file that you try to export, or only this specific model file?

If the error is specific to this model, try running the "examine geometry" command. Turn on all the body and face checks and window select around the model. Any issues reported may need to be fixed before you get a successful export.

Hi Cowski,

I get the error in NX10 on almost all files that exported fine in NX9. Sometimes as stated earlier I can change the tolerance and get them to export or partially export but didn't need to do that in NX9.

I have discovered if the WCS is moved so part is all plus coordinates I do not get "ERROR CREATING FACET BODY". In previous versions this was not the case you would get warning the part has negative coordinates but it would still export the .STL file. Problem remains that if moved from MCS (and WCS) location to all plus coordinates it will be in the wrong place in Vericut.

I have NX 10.0.3.5 installed and the message about "negative coordinates" is the same as it was in NX 9; I don't see any significant difference. Perhaps a call to GTAC is in order.
