Hi,
I work with I-DEAS 9 under HP-UX 11.00. Within "Simulation" and "Master Modeler" I can create the model without any problem. But when I try to export to IGES format, I see a error message:

OI server is not enabled. To enable, unset SDRC_OI_OFF

Under directory "oarun" of I-DEAS installing structure, I modified file "ideasoastart.sh" by adding at the end the following line:

unset SDRC_OI_OFF

Restart I-DEAS, but the error message of IGES export is always there.

Could you help me please.

Thank you in advance,
VP

It sounds like your Orbix Daemon isn't running.

If you have been able to export to IGES previously then it was probably installed correctly but something has since killed the process. If this is the case then a machine reboot should rectify.

If you have never been able to export to IGES then it is likely that Orbix has not been correctly installed on you machine, so you need to talk to your admin guy.

Good Luck...

Hi,
Where I could found Orbix server ? In I-DEAS installation directory ? How to start this server ?

Thank you,

To manually start orbix try "startoiorb" in the <INSTL_DIR>/orbix folder if you've got it.

But there maybe more to it than this, if Orbix had been correctly installed the process would be started each time the machine is re-booted.

Please be aware that you *must* run the Orbix installation and confguration scripts as root. I have seen many cases where this has not been done and it leads to a partial installation of Orbix.

Thank you for all your reply!

I could start Orbix server now and IGES is exported without any problem :)

VP

Actually Reinstalling I-Deas is the best method to solve this problem.... Because even after manually starting Orbix Server.... The next time you Reboot the problem is still there....

I faced this problem a couple of times.. first i started orbix server manually... but after the next boot the problem persisted... and Reinstalling solved it permanently.....

Hi sumitanantwar,
I don't think so! I ran Orbix after install it into system (HP-UX). So the starting script was installed well in /sbin/init.d/.... I have checked it and I should be all right in the next boot :)

Reinstallation I-DEAS is definitively NOT need AT ALL ! :) :)
