I have a model that was sent to me in solid edge and i need to save it out as a step file, but when i do it comes back and says there are no solid bodies in the model that i am trying to save out. yet, i can see the assembly in Solid Edge. Also, is there a way to shrink an assembly into a part file? Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you!

"Also, you can insert an Assembly into a Part file by using Insert Part Copy."

However for many geometries that won't work well. I discussed it with UGS (yes it was that long ago) and they don't encourage doing this due to the high probability of failure.

Posting guidelines faq731-376 (probably not aimed specifically at you)

What KENAT is referring to is when an assembly had two parts that would not form a single solid because a "zero thickness non-manifold" solid would result, the Insert Part Copy would fail. Since then, things have changed as of ST5 and part files now support multi-body so that failure no longer occurs.
