I've been able to create some longer than whats allowed and they are working fine.
The only time I get a msg regarding them being to long is when I try and rename them.

Does anyone else have any experience with this?
How many characters are actually allowed?

I'm also wondering if there are any stability issues I should be concerned about.

I have a vague memory of , 128 or 132 characters, or if it was that NX doubled that to 256 characters ?

- That did not help...

Regards,
Tomas

Lol... It might be 1256.

I've got an equation close to the edge and its about 1050

It's strange... I've never experienced anything bad from being over. The system allows it.
Until you try and re-name the equation or import it. Then it makes a fuss.

Limit is 1024, as I recall.

Thanks Taylor..
Is there any risk of instability or corruption if you go over?

Like said previously... it seems to work OK until you try and rename it or use Export / Import

If there's a situation where NX allows something to work with SOME functions but not others, such as what you've described here, that is definitely something that development should be looking at as a problem. Lack of consistent behavior is always a quality issue. I would contact GTAC and have them open an IR and have development look at what appears to be a very easy to duplicate 'problem'. If what you say is confirmed, they should convert the IR to a PR and proceed with fixing it.
