Hello All

I have been scouring this forum and Siemens NX and Teamcenter help to try to figure out this issue I'm having. I have added part level attributes in NX and would like to see them in structure manager in Teamcenter and then ultimately use a excel template to spit them out in a spreadsheet format. In order to do this I need to do two things, first I need to get the attributes I added in NX to show up in structure manager. Over the course if my research I have found that it is possible through the use of structure manager occurrence notes however I have not been able to find out how to create them for my newly created attributes. The second question I have is that once my attributes show up in structure manager as occurrence notes, how do I then format my excel template to extract them. Any help anyone could provide would be appreciated.
thanks

In order to get your part attributes to TeamCenter (without writing a specialized tool) you need to setup the mapping first. This mapping will tell the TeamCenter integration where to store these attributes in TC.
This needs to be done on the server and there is utility for this (import_attr_mappings). I'm guessing your environment Admin will know how to do this.

What would be required for the "specialized" tool?

Knowledge of code writing in C#,C++, VB, Java or any other language which can be used with NX and Teamcenter.
But it would be much easier for your Environment Admin to do the mapping on server side. Doing it this way it will be available for a new AND existing items right away.
When the correct attributes have been mapped and the definition file is updated it is a 5 minute task to get them into Teamcenter.

I found the attribute mapping syntax and sample mapping in the Siemens help file however I am new to this and having difficulty determining where the mapping file is stored as well as the syntax for my user created attributes and how specifically they should appear in mapping file. If the attribute name is at the part level, named "Attribute 1" and it is categorized in the part file attributes as "User Created" how should it appear in the mapping file? Any help is greatly appreciated.

First a very important question. Do you have DBA rights to the Teamcenter server? If not, then this whole exercise is useless.
You first need to extract the current attribute file from the Teamcenter Database (needs DBA rights).
You need this extracted file to prevent overwriting or deletion of already existing attributes.
