Is it possible to extrude a profile (circle, etc.) along a 3D spline? This would be very useful for wire routing, but I have been unsuccessful in trying to do it. Any help would be appreciated.

not in autocad 2000 but in some of the verticals like LDD2 and up and Mechanical desktop you can but i think its particular routines that do it if everyone helps everybody the world will be a better place

Solid Modelling in ACAD2K:

The only way I see to do this is create extrusions with 2D polylines or Splines. Both perpendicular to shape to be extruded along a Path.

Create 2D curves for elbows ( 90 deg or 45 deg) and link at junctions ( ctr to ctr) where path of wiring is to go in "Z" area. Save as blocks to be recalled later, explode block before next step.

Finally Union all links together.
