Does anyone have a link to information on eyebar design?

I was looking at some calculations for a truss design project from 20+ years ago and there's something with the eyebar design I can't figure out.

The equation used is: f= (p/A) + (M/S);

where M = (0.0035 k/in^2/ft.)x (t x d) x L^2

where t = thickness of the eyebar, d = its diameter,
and L = c to c length between panel points.

The 0.0035 k/in^2/ft is throwing me. There's a reference that the same value was used for another bridge; that's it. I've looked through some old books, including Steinman's Treatise on Suspension Bridges but nothing.

I figured out where 0.0035 came from; it's the weight of 12 cubic inches of steel.

But, if anyone has a paper on eyebar design, I'd still be interested in reading it. Thanks.

Might be able to figure it out if we knew the units of measure for t, d and L. Seems like t and d will be the same value.
