face coloring

We color faces of our solids so that the toolpathing dept knows what type of finish that area needs. On the last three service packs we have been unable to color all the faces we need to. When we right click on the face it says there are no properties attached. We have not gotten any help from IBM or DS, is this only our problem or has other users seen this?

issue started on v5r16sp5 and is still on sp7

Figured out that if use a pocket instead of a surface split that i can color all faces as needed.

Has anyone else run into this?

Ah the dreaded colour surface issue. Our NC dept would like coloured models, our NC dept does not receive them. Features of the solid model have various colours (tapped holes, reamed holes...) but part/parting line same colour.
