Is there a way to get individual face names of a surface to be applied to a bock that has been trimmed by that sheet?
It seems to work fine with wave linked boolean operations.
The reason I am asking is because we use Work-Nc for toolpathing and so everything needs to be color coded. We have a program that will change the color of a face depending on its name. I would like to be able to apply these face names to the original surface so that it gets carried through multiple operations if possible.

Thanks,
Kevin

Yes, Boolean operations provides a scheme to pass face-names from tool bodies to target bodies. Unfortunately the same can't be said for simple Face Trim operations, although that would be a great enhancement.

John,

Not sure about others but it would certainly help us with passing design intent down stream.

Thanks,

Why not skip a step and have the body inherit the colour of the trimming face directly?

Khimani,

Are you referring to "Use Display Properties of Parent Part" in the Wave Geometry Linker?
Our current process involves seed files that have blocks on specified layers that are in reference sets. I trim those blocks with a sheet, the designer wave links to these blocks and uses the appropriate boolean operation.
