I have and error upon starting FT View, The specific error message is this. "Cannot connect to add in objet, Name:Application handler, Cause=
800401e4" Then upon clicking ok, the software boots up but without menus and explorer window is empty.

What i have tried
Unistalled, reinstalled FTView 6.0, RSLinx 2.57, Service platform 2.3 RSLinx Enterprise 5.3, I have talked with Tech connect and we went through the 12 causes and solutions in the knowledge base.

Now it's eather buy a new laptop or reformat and reinstall everything. And that prostpect is not good as I would loose a week of productivity.

Anyone ever run in to this problem?

Cause:
The investigation found that there were conflicts with file version found in C:\Program Files\Rockwell Software\RSCommon\. Examination of the Windows Path showed that the directory C:\Program Files\Rockwell Software\RSCommon\ appeared ahead of C:\Program Files\Common Files\Rockwell\ and C:\Program Files\Rockwell Software\RSView Enterprise\.

NOTE: This problem is machine specific as other computers running Studio are not affected by the order of directories in the Windows Path.

Solution:
The Windows path was modified and C:\Program Files\Rockwell Software\RSCommon\ was placed at the end of the path so that C:\Program Files\Common Files\Rockwell\ and C:\Program Files\Rockwell Software\RSView Enterprise\ appeared first in the path.

I have implemented your suggested corrections. The new tech note on this came out last week. However it did not solve my problem.3 tech notes related to this problem and none of them offers a solution.

Is this an existing system that use to work fine and has since corrupted or is this an initial installation?
What version of windows are you using?
Do you have any antivirus or firewall software programs installed?Running?
After uninstalling, have you tried to load a previous version like 5.0 or 5.1?

Not knowing the answers to these questions yet, I suggest uninstalling everything once again. Disable all firewalls and antivirus software (including windows firewall) and perform a COLD boot. On power up, verify software is still disabled. Install factory talk services first, then ME 6.0. Installing RSLinx Enterprise and RSLinx Classic is optional (until Runtime) so I would not go that far until the ME installation is proven out.

This was an existing system that worked fine. Ver 5.1
Was removed and installed ver 6.0
Anti virus and firewall was disabled during installation.
Windows is XP sp3.
No have not tried to load a previous version.
I have tried running FTview before installing Enterprise and RSLinx, No success.
I have uninstalled windows updates since before date of last properly working software with no success. Seems like rockwell tech support has given up on me.
