Please be more specific about what kind of drilling. Well drilling, foundation drilling, exploration drilling, oil drilling. Very different equipment.
For foundation drilling, DFI and EFFC has produced a free download on "working platforms" which has a discussion of rig stability, with some interesting photos of drill rigs and cranes that do not have their tracks flat on the ground.
