Fan postion in wind tunnel

hello,

I want to know the basic difference between the blower type wind tunnel and suction type wind tunnel and criteria for selecting a certain fan position in wind tunnel designing.

what do you mean by blower type and suction type!

all i know is that there are 2 types of wind tunnels, open section and closed section!

i assume a blower type has the fan upstream of the test model and a suction type has the fan downstream.... correct?

if so....

the fan in the blower design will generate lots of swirl in the flow that you need to straighten before it gets to the model.

the inlet section of the suction design may add turbulence, depending on its shape, velocities, what's upstream of it.

Yes! I mean exactly the same thing as you have assumed. But I could not understand the main difference between these two configurations in terms of application (i.e. the constraints associated with the flow field, which limits the use of either type of configuration in a certain application).
