FE analysis of iges files 2

Does anyone know if it possible to do FEA analysis on an imported IGES file??

Im using V5R6 and it doesnt seem to want to mesh using generative structural design - i can use the advanced surfaces to mesh one surface at a time but when i go to perform an analysis it doesnt recognise any loads or fixed points.


Maybe im doing something wrong - if anyone could enlighten me id much appreciate it

Mike,

Did you use the external view? You need to have an external view to mesh a surface. I think you can find it in Generative Shape Design, somewhere in 'View'...

Thanks for the advice Excalibur, something so simple - saved me alot of effort - thought i was gonna have to re-model the whole lot!!!!
