It is usually on the very front counter weight. It is also hard to see usually because Fords are very light indentions.

i found a casting number for a 428 CJ it's the 1UB...but i don't know if the 428 CJ it's the FE....does CJ stands for Cobra Jet????...Techguru...can you look for this forge number??....thanks

1UB is:
(dramatic music plays)

was used in 1969-70 PI and Cobra Jet.
so you do have a cobra jet crank.

other casting for cj cranks are:
IU
IUB
A
IUA
B

these are 3.98" stroke cranks as opposed to 3.78 in the FE.

if anyone else needs ford v8 part/casting numbers let me know.

FE series Ford engines were a family of engines, 352/360/390/427 and 428 ( could be others, Im not primarily a Ford guy.
Also, so far as I am aware of, the 428 was done after 1969, they went to the 385 series 429 engine.

the 428 cj was made from 68-70. same for the 429 cj, not an FE design.

the FE motors are as follows
332/352/360/361/390/406/410/427/428

the 429/460 was a different design.

then there was the FT series which was 330HD/361/391.

PHEW! i dont really like anything other then standard small blocks, but who cares ;)
