I recently found out that the FE (EIT) Exam has been restructured. The NCEES website says FE registration is open year-round. Does that mean it's no longer twice a year?

Anybody care to comment on the computer-based test? The testing site provides a "Reusable booklet and marker"- is that akin to a pencil and paper?

It was a laminated piece of paper and a dry erase marker where I took the exam.

I had to use papyrus and a scribe.

I (OP) was told that it was restructured to be more discipline-specific. Anybody have any comments on the content, study guides, etc? I'm very rusty. I have older EIT study books. Should I get a new book that's relevant to the restructured test?

Dear OP,
I took the computer based FE exam about 5 months ago and I didn't find it too difficult. You should definitely start working on your basic math and then move to statics, dynamics, mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluids. Try to solve lots of problems in these areas and you should be good. As a fresh graduate, I found the exam very straight forward. For example, for most problems, all I had to do was find the formula from the reference book(electronic copy available on the left side of the screen during the exam) and plug the values in it (like general gas equation, Reynolds number formula, thermal conductivity etc). Make sure to read that reference book many times to know how to locate sections, topics, and formula. Good luck!
