Hi all
Had some free time in the office today, and decided to build a finite element model of a preloaded bolted joint subject to external load.
I think its a great primer, and would help new engineers understand load-unload curves of bolted joints as well as Finite Elment Analysis. Specifically prestress, connections and data validation.
The results even show the effect prying has on the amplification of bolt loads
Might be worth a read, comments very much appricated
Have a great weekend!
