I am trying to do a FEA study on a poly block bonded to steel substrate. The poly is a special mix, so I do not the material curve to use. How do I insert a new material curve in ALGOR and what curves are needed for simulating a simple compression test and heat generation study?

(I am a beginner in FEA analysis and with using ALGOR..so dont really have much experience)

Hi,
First you need to decide which material model you need to use for the poly. If you don't have the material curve, can you estimate the elastic modulus and poisson's from similar materials? You'll also need the conduction co-efficient if you want to run a thermal study.

If you look in the Element Definition in the Parts list you'll see the material models available under General Settings. For example, you may want to run this as a Blatz-Ko foam model.

You can then edit material properties in the Material part of the Parts list.

What do you know about the material properties? I can help further then.
