Using CATIA V5R18;

I designed a left hand part and then created a right hand part with the “Paste Special, As Result With Link” function in a new part file. The problems that I’m having are the following;

1. I have a reuse pattern that doesn’t work in assemblies
2. I have threaded holes that doesn’t show up in drawings

Anyway to get all of the master features to show up in the slave files?

Any response will be greatly appreciated!

TorsionalStress, Right click over the left hand part and Create Technological Results. This will package up the feature information. In your symmetry part, right click over the linked solid body and Create Technological results. You should now have a list of holes and threads. This will be passed to your drawings.

Derek, the threads did appear but I was hoping to retrieve the features list so I can “attribute link” to them to get the feature size like from the original model, plus there is no pattern to chose from for multiple instances. Anyway this can be done other than remodeling a new part?

Any response will be greatly appreciated!

You can make a mirrored instance copy of the part. I use a script to symmetry the part around absolute X or Y zero. This can lead to geometric problems if the symmetry is applied around skewed x/y planes. This is not a big concern for me with the structure I have in place. I found the script sometime ago from Mike Berry but Ferdo has now placed it in his Portable Script Archive 2.0 You can find Product Symmetry under the product section of scripts. If you want to symmetry the X direction modify the lines to
'Invert x coord of part origin x direction vector
dblPosition(9) = -dblPosition(9)
dblPosition(0) = -dblPosition(0)
objProd.Position.SetComponents dblPosition

objProd.Name = "Sym X " & ItemToRenamePartNumber

End Sub

I added the above line to rename the product

First you make an instance copy of the product to symmetry. Next run the script. I have noticed that R20 step does not output the geometry correctly but iges does. I must be an undocumented feature of R20 because R19 worked fine.
