FEM for acrylic window

Hi,all

I'm trying to model a window made from acrylic glass subjected to internal pressure using NASTRAN. Anybody has an experience in this subject.What is an appropriate type of element for this acrylic ?, and how about the FEM results comparing to test results

Appropriate element type is plate or shell elements.

Material property representation will depend on what you are trying to determine.....Could be either elastic or inelastic...

You should get good correlation between test results and analysis...

An meaningful addition to finite element analysis for brittle materials is to interface FEA results with a reliability analysis. This is important because with this part of material the strength is more related to statistical effects - a small part is is stronger than a large part - There is a (free) program available called NASA/CARES that is really neat for this application.
