Hello, friends.
I'm researching about fiber optics, and I have a doubt.
Who created the Fiber Optics, and why did he/she called it so?

I look forward to your soon answers. I will be grateful to you.

Sincerely,
-Greisy

well, Optical Fibers as the were originally called are besically a wave guide which transmit a single evensecent field in the case of single mode fibers. TheTransmission of light is actually the containment of the optical energy at the prescibed wavelength, This field acuatlly "spills' into the cladding of the fiber. This is who one is able to couple light from one fiber to the other - evenescent feild coupling

A "light Pipe" or multi-mode fiber works on the principle of Total internal Reflection (TIS), similar to looking at the side of an fiah tank from the front - looks like a mirror. Thses fribers can hold many modes of laight paths because the light is bouncing around as it propagates doen the fiber.

The optical fiber was invented based on these optical pricipals!
