File Conversions

I'm running Solid Edge v18 at work and am trying to convert some files to SolidWorks. It seems to me that since both systems use the Parasolid kernel, I should be able to perform a straight conversion. I have converted to STP, x_t and IGS but get only an Imported Body when I open in SolidWorks. Any help?

That's what you will get.
There is no direct translation in Solid Edge or in Solid Works.
STP, x_t, and IGES are all 'neutral' formats that carry no model feature intelligence.
3rd party direct converters are available - at a cost.
I believe SW has the ability to do some form of 'feature recognition' that will attempt to re-generate the model features.
SE also has this feature (don't know if it's an extra cost though)

SE Part has a save as Catia V4 - if SW can open Catia V4 you may be able to use that format as a half-way-house.

I just wanted to point out that X_T is a Parasolid direct kernel level export. It is not a translation as is STEP or IGES, and it is the best way of moving models between Parasolid based systems (I believe both SE and SolidWorks can read each others part files because of this). That being said, the Parasolid kernel only maintains a BREP body and there is no feature intelligence, so that is why you get just a "dumb" solid body.
