Dear Expert,

In this week, i preparing procedure qualification for welding,
this WPQT for new WPS for welding V-anchor to shell/head

The other information as below:
Equipment : Reactor
Reference Code : ASME Sect. VIII Div.1 Latest Edition
Design Temperature : 1000degC
Material : SA516-60N, V-anchor : A314-310S
Refractory will be applied after completed fabrication

Normaly, i use the filler metal according to para 6.2.2 of API RP582.

the filler metal as per API 582 can't cover the design temperature for equipment.

please advise the filler metal and reference code to be used.

For this combination, use of Inconel 182 (ERNiCrFe-3) would suffice. ASME Section II, Part C, SFA 5.11.

thank you for response

Inconel 182 (ERNiCrFe-3)SFA 5.11/SFA 5.14 only cover for design temperature 540degC as per API RP582, in this case design temperature is 1000degC.

I think this filler metal will not suffice.

please advice reference code and recomendation filler metal (if any)

This filler metal has been evaluated by Oak Ridge National Laboratory and is acceptable for use to 732 deg C (tensile test conditions).

I understood that the filler metal Inconel 182 (ERNiCrFe-3)SFA 5.11/SFA 5.14 will cover for design temperature 732degC, however this filler metal can't applied for equipment with design temperature 1000degC condition.

any other recommendation for filler metal to be used for welding dissimilar with design temperature over than 1000degC ???

thank you for your answer.

Are you going to use refractory over the weld region? You are welding to carbon steel so this would need protection from 1000 deg C. The anchor itself can be exposed to 1000 deg C but the dissimilar metal weld should be protected as is the carbon steel.

Yes, I will use refractory after completed welding and fabrication.

whether Inconel 182 can be used or not?
please advice, I need recomendation.

Yes, Inconel 182 can certainly be used under these conditions.
