Hello all,

This facility is for oil and gas production (upstream and midstream type facility). If the facility is finished and production was delayed or fluid/product is not flowing yet, for weeks or even a couple of months. Hydrotest water have been dried out, etc. Is it okay to leave the facility just empty until commissioning time or is there a recommended or safe practice like filling with inert gas or ...?

Thank you.

As much as possible, do it right the first time...

a nitrogen purge to ensure ALL water removal followed by N2 pressure, 5-psig, on systems to preserve. put a gauge on various systems to monitor. all too often simply removing hydrotest water and drying w/ air is not good enough.

Thank you pmover.

You need to consult Shell DEP "PRESERVATION OF NEW AND OLD EQUIPMENT STANDING IDLE" DEP 70.10.70.11-Gen.
There are quite a few things in that document that are done in many oil and gas installations, worldwide.
