I have to procure finned tube as per the below details:
Bare tube: ASTM A179
OD: 1 inches, Length: 30 feet
Fin spec: B209 Gr 1060

As regards to dimensional tolerance, it is clear for bare tube which will as per STD. But my doubt is the dimensional tolerance for fins (Fin OD, fins per inch, fin thickness). Can the fin manufacturer provide his own dimensional tolerance for the fins. Please help

Does your fin spec have dimensional tolerances?
He may offer you a couple of options for profiles.

Fin spec does not mention dimensional tolerance. Hence, my opinion is we can accept fin fabricators own tolerance. Please reply if my opinion is correct

This is really a design question, is it not? You're procuring a finned tube, presumably to implement some heat transfer between the pipe contents and the outside ambient. Therefore, ALL of the fin dimensions are critical to the expected performance of the heat transfer for which the designer intended.

Ask what they will guarantee for tol. They should have some internal controls that state this.
