I know from NFPA 13 (10.4.3.1) that a riser pipe needs to be within 10' of an exterior foundation. But I have in my memory that a fire suppression installer had told me a few years ago that using an Ames in-building riser, this could be extended to 30 feet. Something about being able to still get the job done using only one joint under the slab. So basically a long pipe attached to a long horizontal leg of an Ames elbow. Does anyone know if that "one joint" idea is legit, or maybe an old option that isn't valid anymore?
