In a fully sprinklered medical office bldg. 2-stories with roof access via roof hatch in stairwell, is a roof manifold required? NFPA 14 states the requirement for fire standpipe and combined standpipes, but is a roof manifold ever installed on a wet auto. sprk. system? NY State jurisdiction (not NYC)

The purpose of the roof manifold is to test the standpipe demand and test fire pump at roof if applicable. If you have a fire pump the header should be at street level so that is out of the question. I dont think you need to have a combination system on a 2 storie building.
What is the building spec for?

Find out what building / fire code is in use for that ahj, sometimes thee is a requirement in there that is not in 14

You see CDAFD, that's what is bugging me. The town of the project happens to be one of those AHJ's that make teir own requirements. The fire marshal is very stringent in addition of making contact to inquire. NFPA 14 or any other code for that matter is not to specific if it mentions it at all. I was just curious on account of the type of roof access and also gas fired units placed there.
Does anyone know of a specific code (fire, bldg, etc) that specifically states that rooftop manifolds are not required atop of sprinkler risers?

What is the standpipe classification, i.e., Class I, II or III? Since you're in NY state, your answer is found in 2009 IFC Section 905.4, item 5 if it's a Class I standpipe. If it's a Class III standpipe, no roof manifold is required.

Thank you. I kind of figured that. I just needed to show it documented to my client. I'm a freelance plbg/fp designer. Thanks again.
