What type of firesafe certified gaskets is possible to use in H2SO4 92-98% service (max 100°C)? I asked about Grafoil gasket but the chemical compatibility table of this material show it like non recommended in H2SO4 service over 95%
Could you help me?

Thanks

"Certified firesafe"- by whom?

Ceramic-fibre-filled or Flexitallic "Thermiculite"-filled spiral wound gaskets would be worth considering.

I've found in Klinger internet web site the PTFE gasket type Top-chem-2000. It's a API6FA firesafe certified gasket. Perhaps it is a possible solution. Do you know something about it?

Thanks very much

To be considered (not certified) as "Firesafe", a gasket should successfully pass the API 607 4th edition fire test. Sulfuric acid alky systems cannot use conventional flexible graphite filled spiral wound gaskets (which are generally considered fire safe), because of chemical compatibility limitations. Alternative PTFE filled spiral wound gaskets are not fire-safe. I don't know of ANY ptfe based sheet gaskets that are considered by users to be truly fire safe- certainly not Gylon or Klinger ptfe gaskets.

One proven firesafe gasket for sulfuric acid alky systems is Inpherno style (PTFE and Graphite filler) spiral wound gaskets.

You understood exactly the problem.
I recived from Klinger the firesafe certification relative to their Topchem 2000 gasket type.
The certification recived is about a test DN50 PN40 30 bar TOPCHEM 2000 GASKET (107x60x1,5mm) based on the "specification for fire test for Valves" according to API specification 6FA confirmed by TUV osterreich department (document WP547/MK/BE 27/03/96).
Better than nothing ............
