@SenFeinstein Can you have Michael Avenatti cross examine Kavanaugh?

Sleazy Avenatti, I think you mean. That won't happen.

But I would pay to see it happen...

No sign of Avenatti, and his claims have predictably been placed in the rubbish bin.

But Kavanaugh would have destroyed him, as he did the Democrat conspirators on the Committee.

Lindsey Graham said it best.

The vote is not in yet.

That being said, how comfortable are we really with a person, sitting on the Supreme Court, who exhibited the anger and rage that we saw today? Even to the point of suggesting that this was all some sort of conspiracy by Clinton supporters out to punish Donald Trump. Then near the end we learn that Judge Kavanaugh didn't even take the time or effort to watch Dr. Ford's testimony. And this was after Committee Republicans had insisted that Dr. Ford be the first to testify so as to give the Judge an opportunity to respond to what she had said and what the questioning by their so-called 'special prosecutor' would reveal.

I am totally comfortable with him, if confirmed. He had every right to the anger he expressed, and so did Lindsey Graham. Did you see his statement? Every one of the Democratic Senators on that committee should hang their heads in shame.

Look. I understand that you think he's guilty. I'm not going to argue about guilt/innocence in a she-said/he-said. I also didn't witness the "anger and rage", so I don't even have an image of that myself. However, do you have the mental capacity for this exercise? Attempt to imagine a world in which it is actually the case that he's been falsely accused. Put yourself in his shoes. His career, character, and integrity have been severely assaulted. How much "anger and rage" would be appropriate?

You must have watched a different Senate Committee hearing than I did.

To that point, did you notice how Grassley and Graham suddenly 'fired' their so-called 'special prosecutor', virtually in mid-sentence, when it became obvious that she intended to ask the Judge the same sort of tough questions that she had asked of Dr. Ford earlier in the day? How does that make the Republicans on the committee look? They had spent days defending their even considering to use an 'outside prosecutor' so as to make the procedure at least have the appearance of being more fair and equitable for both parties. Well that didn't last long once they noticed that the judge was actually being asked real questions that he appeared to be having some problems answering.

We watched the same thing, only from different perspectives. I will change my previous statement, I am not just comfortable with Judge Kavanaugh, I admire him. He had heretofore been measured and calm in his responses and interviews, but more was required in the face of these outrageous allegations. It was good to see the fire in his eyes, very similar to that displayed by Justice Clarence Thomas when he was similarly accused.

How much "anger and rage" is it that a 15-year old girl should be expected to suppress inside her for the rest of her life? How is it that her life is any less important than his? And if her claims prove to be true, and as it has been stated, all we have is his word against hers, whose "character and integrity has been assaulted" during this process?

So what would you have the committee do? Do you think there was a Democratic Senator on the committee who had not already decided how to vote prior to the lady coming forward?

You can't possibly be serious in suggesting that the confirmation of Justice Clarence Thomas, or his public utterances afterwords, is a model of how a member of the Supreme Court should behave. His time on the High Court has been an embarrassment to our nation, not only because of how he got there but for the positions that he has taken over the years.

If you're so in awe of the confirmation of Clarence Thomas, then why didn't the Committee, as it did back in 1991, ask that the FBI open an investigation and actually go out and interview the several named individuals who have been identified as having, if not first-hand, than at least second-hand knowledge of the incidents in question?

And what expectation did you have as to how the Republicans on the committee were going to vote?

"Do you think there was a Democratic Senator on the committee who had not already decided how to vote prior to the lady coming forward"

Is that somehow different than the Republicans, who are on record wanting to vote Kavanaugh into a lifetime position without even investigating the case?

Lest anyone forget, Kavanaugh was handpicked by the Heritage Foundation, to be one of the justices who will vote to overturn Roe v. Wade.

I think the votes of Senators Flake and Sasse were, and perhaps still are, in the balance. But all the Democrats on the committee, I think, will vote no.

It doesn't really matter how the committee votes, it is the full Senate which confirms or not. We will see.

Back to Clarence Thomas, there were 11 Democratic Senators who voted to confirm. It was partisan, but not like today.

JohnRBaker,
If Dr. Ford had gone to the police after the events she described in the hearing, they would have investigated it. There was no federal crime being alleged by her, and the FBI would not legally be able to become involved at the time, let alone now. The Democrat complaints that the FBI was not called upon to investigate the allegation are the same stupid smoke screen that the documents from the Bush White House were not made available. IT IS ALL CRAP. This committee is simply media circus.
