ASME B16.11 covers forged socket weld fittings for steel but what if the fittings are machined from round stock. Is there a separate standard for machined fittings and what is it? And would that standard cover only steel or can it beapplied to machined nickel fittings also.
Another question: some fittings I have a marked a105 for steel in reference to astm a105, but on the monel fittings are marked a400 for monel. Astm a400 does not seem to have any verbiage about nickels. I know the 400 can reference uns numbers and is meant for monel but why do the steel fittings refer to an ASTM number and the monel fittings refer to an UNS system?
