fix views in drafting

Is it possible to fix views with a dimension in drafting? I have a model that I adjust with parameters, it can adjust from 100 mm till 1300 mm. So I've made an expression for the scale. This all works, but the views are moving from the place where they were in start position.

I'm looking for something that I can fix the views on a corner or so with 2 dimensions in x and y. I've tried some thing and it seems I was almost there with this option: MB3 on a view --> edit --> (expand) tracking and click cursor tracking. Here I can choose a dimension for X and Y but when I load new expressions from the excel sheet and update the drafting views the dimensions adjust themselves.

Does anyone know a solution for me?

Thanks in advance,

Tim

The option you have is the "Anchor point". RMB the view - View Boundary... - Anchor Point, then pick the point you would like to have as the fix point on the sheet.

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for your answer.
I've tried it but it only works when the scale stays the same. If the scale is changed the view gets another position.

No, it should work fine when the scale is changed too.
Can you show a picture of what you are trying to do?

Is your Anchor point the same as the point you are scaling your part and or assembly from?

I've give it another try. now it works!

First I did only 1 view with an anchor point and had aligned the other views with this one. But when I placed anchor points to all views it works good to me![dazed]

I have another question, I've placed dimensions to the view, these have to change when the model get's higher, thinner or less width. I've found that I can use origin dimension to let this work. Now it works for the width and thickness, but the height will stay on it's place when the views are updated. In the added picture you can see that in the front view the dimension 400 and 425 remain. Does some body have an solution for this?

Yes, you have to set anchor points in all views. ( I think that the default "anchor" is the center of the respective view.)
The dimensions look strange, they should not do what you show in the picture.
Have you tried updating the sheet ? Right click the sheet in the part navigator- Update
to see if this is some strange update problem .

If the dimensions doesn't update i think you should speak to GTAC about this.

yes indeed it is strange, and I think that I've had this problem before but I can't remember how I solved it.
I did try updating the sheet but it won't work. I thought it was something by origin but can't find it anymore.

thanks anyway!

Tim

Today I noticed that when I update the same expressions for a second time, the dimension for the height will change! very strange this!!
