Hi All,

I want to tighten the bolts connection between pipe flange and butterfly valve flange. Details as follows:

Valve size : DN2200
BOLTS: M56 X 52 Nos. - A2 hexagonal bolts

8mm thick rubber gasket is used in between valve and pipe flanges.

Can any one tell me how much torque need to be applied to tighten the bolts? If possible with a calculation for my future reference.

Please refer to gasket manufacturers catalog for the correct bolt torque.

Hi BCD,
Thanks for your reply.

I can see that all gasket manufacturers specified bolt torque only till DN1000.
But I want for higher sizes like DN2200, 2600,3000.

Pls suggest how to proceed.

You can ask the manufacturer for the torque for larger sizes. Or, you can do the math yourself. Figure out the compressive stress on the gasket for the smaller sizes based on the torque the manufacturer provides up to DN 1000. then figure out the torque you need to get the same contact stress on the larger sizes.
