i am designing sea water intake pipe, and will use duplex material,
The pipe diameter is 2000 mm, and will use pipe class 300#
is there any dimension standard for flange, rating 300# and bore size 2000 mm ?
please advise for flange material applicable for this service

hi mk3223..
thanks for your info
i just checked it, and the rating looks not ASME standard, this flange according to DIN standard
anyway thanks for this info

ASME and similar flanges only go to 60 inch - 1500mm

Anything bigger you need to either custom design or a different flange code.

Also there is no such thing as pipe class 300. Pipe, especially Duplex, should be designed according to your design pressure which could be a lot less than 50bar, especially for a seawater intake.

Why Duplex?
PE or GRE or virtually anything else would be a lot cheaper...

Also: If you get a response it's polite to respond to it.

why duplex..
this pipe basically will install and penetrate on the concrete of sea water basin

A 2m diam duplex pipe will be very expensive...

-Is this flange joint to be casted with concrete as an anchor point?

Q: is 300# pipe is due to the actual max design pressure of the ASME class 300 rating?

What is the design massflow rate through this huge pipe ?.... at what pressure is it operating ?

Did you chose the duplex stainless steel material or did someone else specify it

I strongly agree that this will be very expensive ... and I also question the availablity ..

To which piping code or international standard is this system being designed ?

Is this your first seawater system ?

OP,
Look up AWWA C207. Many process/water plants uses this spec for the flange dimensions and rating. The Standard provides flange specification from 4" to 144".

thanks for all response
the duplex nozzle pipe will connect to the pipeline with the operating pressure about 20 bar
this is sea water line supply to the plant. The pipe line looks is FRP
Sea water intake basin will be built with the concrete, which is the duplex pipe will be inserted in the wall of the concrete
the main standard using ASME / ANSI
This is my first sea water intake project

Hmmmmmmm ....

"the duplex nozzle pipe will connect to the pipeline with the operating pressure about 20 bar"

and 20 bar OPERATING PRESSURE is ~ 290 psig ..... Hmmmmmmm

and an OD of 2000 mm is ~ 79 inches .............Hmmmmmm
Sooooooooo I get a piping wall thickness (with duplex stainless allowable stress levels) of about 0.60 - to about 0.75 inches wall thickness --- This depends somewhat on the Code of Construction and quality of inspection you select

But I am not sure of that since, you now seem to describe only a duplex stainless steel liner into a concrete pipe

Will you be specifying seam welded piping ?... Will you be bending and seam welding the pipe yourself ?

What is your code of construction ?

What will you select as your "corosion allowance" for your seawater piping system ?

hi MJCronim
please advise the availability of the pipe on the market
my plan using EFW pipe, A790 UNS S31802

OP,
FRP pipes are not uncommon in river/sea water systems. Many companies has built penstock and plant sea water cooling system with FRP.
Do some research.

You seem totally confused ... Is this a stand alone piping system OR perhaps a duplex liner to a concrete pipe ?... OR an FRP system ....? .... Your broken phrases and incomplete english is frustrating everyone

My name is MJCronin not MJCronim,.... rudiwang

You state:

"please advise the availability of the pipe on the market -- my plan using EFW pipe, A790 UNS S31802"

You want others to USE GOOGLE FOR YOU ?.... Really ?

Perhaps you could do your own job ?.... You are being paid to do it ! ... Do you somehow think that you are being sooooooooo clever by demanding that others perform searches and do your work ?

You have not bothered to answer my reasonable and legitimate questions ... but demand more info !!!

I have already given you a gift ... as noted above

It seems that it’s a good project to build ….

Regarding the potential pipe manufacturer and other major equipment, the company Procurement has typically developed a list of the preferred vendors for the project and help the project to track the cost and schedule, the material quality, etc.

From your picture it seems that the DN 2000 mm pipe is transferring seawater from depth of -20m to the basin. Why operating pressure is selected as 20 bar?

Nothing is more fairly distributed than common sense: no one thinks he needs more of it than he already has. Rene Descartes

hi McDermott1711's
yes you are right.. i am mix up with the discharge line which connect to the pump and the pressure is 20 bar
this is the intake line, and only hhydrostatic pressure from sea level
thanks for your info
