Hi All,

This is my first post here. Pls bear me if i break any protocol.

I am working on a Piping project which requires EN 13480 and PED to be followed. As far as flange leakage is concerned for ASME, I know there are various methods like 1. pressure equivalent method 2. ASME VIII Div 1, Annex 2 etc. However, I couldn't find any guidelines or references in B31.3 which guides us on when and how to carry out Flange leakage check. I know how to perfom this test but 1.)where this requirement comes from in form of clauses? 2.) I want to implement this for EN13480 piping so I wanted to find some clauses in EN13480 and eventually proper method to carry out flange leakage check.

I spent a lot of time but couldn't find the answers. can you please help on this?

In ASME B31.3 (2022 Edition), look to Appendix F, under F312.1(a)(2), keeping in mind the notes in F312.1(b).

Please don't use ASME Section VIII, Division 1, Appendix 2.

More infomation?
Diameter, material, design pressure/temperatures, flange Class, gasket and bolts material, torque...etc.

Regards

Thank you for your replies. I can find a clause in B31.3 F312.

However, I am not able to find the guidances in EN 13480 specifically. But I guess EN 13480 Annex D might help. Also EN 1591-"Design rules for gasketed circullar flange Connections" may help.

Basically I was also looking for a few criteria which helps decide whether I should go for flange leakage check or not?

For example, Class 600 and above, Catagory M fluid. etc. I think I should develop similar guidelines for EN 13480 piping system if not readily available.

Thank you once again. If you find anything please share the knowledge.
