I have recently been informed that the most recent (2002) ASME Section VIII, Div. 1 Code moved Appendix C-C (Flanged/Flued Expansion Joints) to a Mandatory Appendix (Appendix 5 I think???).

The impact of this is a majority of heat exchangers being fabricated today have Bellows Type Expansion Joints vs. a Flanged and Flued. Can anyone confirm this???

Keep in mind, since there is a 6-month voluntary phase of new Codes or Addenda's, the 2002 BPV Code issued in July 2002 would have only become Mandatory very recently... January 2003.
