When I flatten my part and sketch some slots on the flattened part then extrude cut them they are no longer there when I go back to the formed view. What am I doing wrong.

I assume you are talking about a sheet metal part--if you wish to cut slots into the flattened part you need to use "unfold" and selectively unfold edges where you need the cuts and "fold" them back when you are done. Alternatively, cut the part before folding in the first place, though this is often harder since it's easier to create the flanges of the finished (folded) part to your dimensions.

The Flatten is actually a feature you are suppressing and unsupressing so if you suppress it (unflatten) anything after it in the tree will be suppressed as well.

Is there any way to get an imgae of your feature tree here? There are so many different ways to create a model, it could be several answers.

Are you creating a Config of our flattened parts? Chances are the new features are in this Config, you will have to move them or change your Config properties to show them in the formed state.
