I am looking for a type of electrical flex conduit for wiring a sauna heater. I had galvanized flex conduit originally in place but it deteriorated due to users pouring water containing clorine over the lava rocks.
I am told that there is another type of conduit that would be both impervious to heat as well as chemical corrosion but I don't knww the name of it..
I appreciate any assistance in finding something to solve this problem.

Thanks,
Tom..

David,
I did not say MI cable needs to be a listed product or installed in a raceway. All I have been saying is the products you have linked to are not permitted to be used as raceways for an NEC installation.

resqcapt,

Too many Davids, you have them confused. I see no links in dpc's posts.

dpc,

Is MI really appropriate here? Looks like the heater is wired before it is placed, and the flexible conduit allows the extra length to lie coiled beneath the heater. In my experience with MI, while it can be bent and formed, it will not fall into a coil. And even if a proper radius coil could be formed as the heater descended into place, the MI is liable to be kinked and damaged when the heater is again slid out.

I am installing a sauna myself so this is topical for me. From all the reading I have done, it sounds like the conduit should be liquid-tight. I think I am going to start with FNMC-B. I read in one of the sauna forums that temperatures immediately beneath the heater stay pretty temperate b/c the hot air rises.

Bear in mind that this is outside of my discipline so a "lay" opinion.
