flexible wedge design for gate valve to API 600

I am dealing with solid cast steel wedges for 6 to 42 inch gate valves which need to be modified into flexible design. I wonder whether there is a recognized international specification applicable that gives min. cut depth requirements.

No there is not a specification. I would suggest going to the original valve manufacture. My company for example has drawings to modify many of our old solid wedge gate valves to saw cut them for flex wedge.
