Floor Live Load Help

IBC 2000, steel ag structure covering an elevated conveyor line. The floor does NOT support the conveyor. The elevated floor allows access to the conveyor but typically nobody is occupying the floor. The structure is enclosed on the long walls and open on the ends.

What live load would you use for the floor design?
Where is IBC 2000 #14 in table 1607.1 used?

In looking at IBC 2006, Table 1607.1, line item #40, I would term your description as an elevated walkway. Use 60 psf.

In the 2000 IBC, same tablew, but line item #39.

I tend to agree with msquared48. I believe this will be like an elevated work platform when the conveyor system will need repairs, etc. The workers will carry with them heavy equipments. So, a higher distributed load for design should be used.

That was my first thought as well.
But when looking at what this is and what it will be used for, 60 psf sounds excessive even with workmen with heavy equipment in the event of a conveyor repair.

The conveyor is not supported by the floor.
The floor area is 30'x170'.

It is what it is, though.
 
You may be surprised- I have seen the workers carrying generators with them during the repair. Also, they tend to slam their tools on the floor, which causes additional impact load.
 
I agree with the others. It appears to meet the definition of an elevated walkway. By code that means 60 psf LL.
