Floor slab design 1

Hi All

I wish to gain information regarding the design of residential and industrial floor slabs. Any tips on where i would be able to find good design aids on this matter.

I know there are many software products that can solve my problem but i wish to do a few designs by first principles before the believing computer results...

The Portland Cement Association and The American Concrete Institute have good publications on designing floor slabs.
