Flow control using penstock

Hi All,

I Have a Plc appliction to write for existing equipment to control the flow of Effluent to a Screen via an Open Channel and Controlled Via a Penstock operating on 4-20mA.

I could really do with help on the calculations side as the Pv(Flow Meter 0-400L/s is upstream of the penstock), the channel is open and square( dims not to hand just yet).

So i have a Pv Flow Meter 0-400L/s, Cv Penstock 4-20mA, Sp of say 50-200L/s.

If you have an open channel with rectangular cross section, you can drop in a parshall flume. Parshall flumes are available as a fiberglass shell that can be relatively easily installed in the chanel. Level in the flume is a function of flowrate, but it is an equation with a weird exponent.
