Fluidized bed to wall heat transfer 1

Hello dear colleagues,

I am looking for exp. data on bed to wall (and immersed surface) heat transfer in fluidized beds of lime (and / or limestone) at Temperatures >500C. FB combustor data should be good enough for the stage i am at. Does anyone know where to look or at least a ballpark figure i can use to have a rough idea of the size?

as I recall, it almost exactly equals the apparent radiation heat transfer coefficient for a black body.

For a fluid bed at 1600 F, a heat transfer coefficient of 31. btu/hr/ft2/F seems to work.

Try getting a copy of the proprietary design standards from B+W, or Foster Wheeler, or Alstom. These are reliable sources.

I was trying to be facetious, but failed again.

The ultimate book on fluidization and fluid particle systems was published circa 1961 by Philip Zenz ( of NYU) , and some copies are still being auctioned off on Ebay.

Much newer information on in-bed fuidized heat transfer can be found in the proceedings of the ASME journal of power and journal of heat transfer, and at the proceedings of conferences in the late 1980's thru mid 1990's, such as the IJPGC, ECOS, ICOPE and other engineering conferences.
 
error- it was Frederic Zenz and Othmer, titled" Fluidization and fluid-particle systems" from 1960, current used price is around $400.
