Hi all,
Seemingly silly question here: Can anybody tell me how my Fluke 87 mod 4 tells "ambient" temperature when set to read "Temp" and both meter leads are shorted together? Does this thing have a built in T/C or what? Cannot seem to find it in the manual....

Thanks,
Scott

In a hundred years, it isn't going to matter anyway.

I'm not 100% certain of that meter, but if the thermocouple connects directly to the meter, it has cold junction compensation, so by shorting the leads together you will measure the temperature of the cold junction.
