I'm trying to transfer a force, which is applied to a keypoint, to a FE model in ANSYS. Everytime I try to do so, I get a message saying "Force at unmeshed keypoint not transferred." Does anyone know why this is the case?

Thanks.

Your finite element model is not "connected" or referenced to the solid model. Somehow you did not mesh the line, area or volume correctly, or you manually created elements and nodes inside the solid model.

You can:
put your load on the nodes,

-or-

mesh your keypoint and merge nodes,

Hi Struct71

Thanks for your reply. I'm trying to get away from applying the load to nodes, as I wish to undertake a mesh study and therefore each time the "node" position will change.

Therefore to expand on your second comment...at the moment I am meshing areas, within which the keypoint is located. Do I need to mesh keypoints independently of areas?

Does it matter than I'm using SHELL99 elements?

Thanks.
