(I am not a math wizard - just saying)

Question:
I need a formula to enter into the sketch perimeter box that will take the expression for "area", and change the perimeter to get the area expression automatically.
The sketch will adjust the perimeter accordingly to match the area expression.
The R6.5 will move up/down to get the required area. R23.5 is fixed location.
Known: radii, area, arc length.....need more?
NX11, sketch is fully constrained with radii and perimeter.
Any formula suggestions to make this happen?

Thanks for your time.

No, the arc(s) may change at some point, but looking to have that change also maintain the area specified in the expression.
so, if the radii changes, the "moving radii in the video" will move up/down accordingly based on the formula that sets the perimeter in the sketch.

thanks for the reply!

I suspect that you will need to perform some sort of iterative operation to get what you're looking for. Of course, you might be able to use KF (Knowledge Fusion) to solve it as well, but I don't think it work at a straight Expression solver.

thanks john, good to see you are still active in answering questions! I use your video for training all the time. the Detroit RUG is not the same without you there.

I agree with John, an iterative approach is your best bet here. Attached is a zip file that contains a journal and an example part (similar to yours). Near the beginning of the journal you can specify the desired area size and tolerance; the journal will vary the chord_length expression until the sheet body has the desired area.

cowski - thank you very much for taking the time to respond and supply data - we downloaded it and it works just fine.
