Foundation Design/Idea

Hi there!

I am designing a fixture to test a webbing. The impact force of the vehicle we'll crash is 104000 lbf. I was able to design a fixture that can withstand that force but the question is how can I keep this fixture stay in the ground. Concrete anchors? Dig a hole with metal and pour concrete and weld it there? Please give me some insights as I have never dealt with concrete/foundation before.

We don't worry about over designing this because we will be using these fixtures for future testing anyways but just wanted to make sure that it stays where it belongs.
I was planning concrete anchors but I doubt it can hold it there with that much of force. Thank you!

You're going to need to provide far more information about what your structure is, how the load is applied for testing, and whether this needs to be a single use type item or if this will be used over and over. Perhaps more than that even, that's just off the top of my head.

You will need to get a geotech involved. A structure that takes impacts on that order is going to have significant foundation reactions.

Contraction design

This all depends on the energy involved. Nothing stiff will withstand that load repeatedly. You need to build in some kind of shock absorber. How many times will this be used?

The issue is shock loading. The force is not huge, but the anchor and or concrete block you'll need to build will be. Probably about the size of a small house.

Of find some really hard rocks.
