For a simple foundation design how you would you go about designing a foundation (determining size and reinforcement required) with a UDL loading?

Since the loading is a UDL with no point loads or moments is the foundation designed for minimum reinforcement and if so how do you determine the minimum depth of the foundation?

Thank you

The depth is determined simply by finding a level which has stiff/sound material and you just found the footing there.

With regards to dimensioning the footing, as Kieran says, it's just a strip footing.
You adjust the width of it to give you your allowable bearing pressure.

With regards to steel, generally the length wise steel will be nominal but the width wise steel will be calculated to resist the moment developped in the footing 'flange' when the bearing pressure pushes up against it. (I'm assuming you've got a wall on this strip footing).
