I have a horizontal vessel supported with saddles, one is fixed and the other is sliding saddle.
What should be foundation load values as per the zick analysis as per the uploaded fig?
I believe that the dead, hydrotest, operation values will be 1/2th of empty, hyrotest and operating weights.
The following are the zick analysis calc. The values what I have got is uploaded as per the ans
Saddle Reaction Force due to Wind Ft [Fwt], My ans-->(Fy, wind)
Saddle Reaction Force due to Wind Fl or Friction [Fwl] My ans--> (Fx, wind)
Saddle Reaction Force due to Earthquake Fl or Friction [Fsl] My ans-->(Fx, seismic)
Saddle Reaction Force due to Earthquake Ft [Fst] My ans--> (Fy, seismic)
But what will be the forces on Fz and moments on Mx and Mz
I believe that the force and moments act only on the 'x'.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
Thanks in advance

behanan, some general comments. First, you need to have good understanding of what your software is doing and what the output means.

Second, generally speaking, all the longitudinal loads (x in the figure) will be reacted at the fixed ssddle. Loads in the transverse and normal directions (z and y) may be reacted by one or both saddles, depending on the design and assumptions made in the software.

Third, the output may or may not be combining cases, for example Operation + Seismic + Wind. You need to know.

Fourth, you need to confirm if the various x, y, z outputs are reactions at the foundations, or are internal to the vessel.

Perhaps others can expand on this.

Regards,

Mike

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand

Because our projects are driven by piping layouts. We will model vessels in the pipe stress model. This provides all the loads (Vessel + piping) at the vessel supports and anchors.

Giving a note of advice is fair rather than taunt someone with unreasonable usage of phrases. I would not like to expand beyond.
