Does anyone know of a free Orcad viewer I can download? I want to view and perhaps print Orcad schematic drawings without having to purchase the whole software.
Thanks.

Yes. If you are looking simply for a viewer, there is one called (something along the lines of) Myriad which will view all sorts of Orcad based design documents. It is what many people at my company use to view the old Orcad files.

In all honesty, I haven't been too impressed with it. I found that it tends to get messed up on some schematics and doesn't display component reference designators in the right scale or right locations.

My best recommendation for you would be to download the Orcad student (free) edition. While it won't let you save large designs, you can read them just fine.

Another option is PADS from Mentor Graphics. It can automatically open Orcad files (.DSN) and convert them to pads. The evaluation version will give you viewer capability.

I got the Cadance OrCAD demo disc, but my files have the .SCH extesion and OrCAD is having trouble opening them and tells me to veiw Session Log, but i can not find any such file. any idea what's going on.

Sorry for the delay...

OrCAD used to use .SCH files, and somewhere in the past converted to .DSN files (my experience is from the .SCH file days).

To find the session log, attempt to open a file and then sort the directory your file is in (and the OrCAD directories) by date. The session log will be one of the most recent.
