Friction loss k value

Hello Guys,

I have a submerged channel with several openings in between. Would like to check if I can calculate the loss through the openings using k-value=2.6 of submerged orifice. So for the example shown below, the loss would be n*k*(v^2)/(2g) = 3*2.6*(v^2)/(2g).

What are your thoughts?

I am of the opinion that the approach by the OP is valid but could not comment on the k value. I would support the three submerged orifices likely to have similar k values and the whole can have one consolidated K coefficient.

I would just pour water through the system, keep two reservoirs at constant head, measure the orifice diamter, flow rate, head loss and compute the k coefficient.

In a steady state the head difference should equal to the K coefficient x velocity head (through the orifice).
