Hello.
There is a resurgence in fuel-ethanol from corn or grain, with numerous new plants being built through-out North America (typical size of 40 million gallons per year, $50 MM). The designs have changed drastically over the last 10-20 years, and the plants are now very tightly heat integrated and energy efficient. Am having a tough time finding up-to-date references for yse in design and plant assessment work.

Can anyone recommend references or handbooks on modern fuel ethanol plant design?

Thank you! :)

Sulzer Chemtech Membrane Systems in Germany offer complete plants combining destillation + vapour permeation for the dehydration of ethanol up to 99.9% - 99.95%.
The consumption is around 0,25 kg Steam per kg Dry ethanol.
